Everyday King: The Story of Rob
When you think of Boston’s movers and shakers, Robert Eugene—better known as “Boston Rob”—is always in the mix. He’s the guy behind HUE, a lounge in Back Bay that’s become the go-to spot, and Silk, an R&B show that’s made Boston vibe like never before. Rob’s made a name for himself by bringing people together and creating unforgettable experiences.
But ask him what his proudest achievement is, and he won’t talk about his lounge or his events. He’ll tell you it’s being a dad.
Rob is a proud #GirlDad to two daughters: one’s a freshman at Spelman College, and the other’s a 13-year-old middle schooler. Somehow, between running businesses and making moves, he’s managed to show up for his girls every step of the way. For Rob, being a dad isn’t just about providing—it’s about being present, guiding them, and cheering them on.
A Holiday Homecoming
I had the chance to tag along with Rob when he picked up his eldest daughter at Logan Airport for the holidays. Watching him get ready for her arrival was like seeing a kid wait for Christmas morning—except this dad wasn’t asking for gifts, just some quality time with his girl.
As we waited, Rob talked about what fatherhood means to him. “I want my girls to know I’m always here for them,” he said. “They’re my legacy. Everything I do is for them.” When his daughter finally appeared, Rob’s face lit up. There were hugs, laughs, and a bond that said, “No matter how far you go, you’re always home.”
Legacy Beyond the Lounge
Sure, Rob’s made a big impact in Boston, but his biggest success story is his family. His daughters are at the center of everything he does. And while Boston knows him as the guy who knows how to throw a great event, his daughters just know him as “Dad.”
Rob’s story is proof that being a father is about more than just showing up—it’s about staying involved, no matter how busy life gets. And that’s what being a #GirlDad is all about.
